On Tuesday, March 24, Chinese authorities reported 78 new cases of coronavirus, with most of the new cases coming from overseas, raising concerns about a second wave of infection.
Wuhan was the epicenter where the virus emerged last year, with the first new case in nearly a week.
Three other local infections have been reported elsewhere in the country.
AFP reported that China’s National Health Commission said that another seven people died, all in Wuhan.
The number of imported cases confirmed on Tuesday was the highest since officials began reporting data in early March, and was almost double the number on Monday, March 23.
Although the virus has killed more than 16,000 people worldwide, the number of imported cases in China has risen to 427.
All international flights to Beijing were diverted to other cities where the virus was checked. Currently, there are more than 81,000 cases in China, and the death toll has reached 3,277.
