Icelandic actor and strong man, Hafthor Björnsson (Ser Gregor) set a world record in the deadlift on Saturday when he lifted 1,104 pounds (501 kg) at Thor’s Power Gym in Iceland.
Hafthor Björnsson played the role of Ser Gregor ‘The Mountain’ Clegane in the popular HBO series ‘Game of Thrones‘ and broke the previous record of Briton Eddie Hall, who was the first to lift 500 kg in 2016.
The event was broadcast live on ESPN. 31-year-old Björnsson lifted the barbell. The barbell was bending and straining under the weights, held it for two seconds, before letting go and roaring in delight.
